Prototyping is a very important part to the creative process when creating UI. InVision is actually a great tool for creating nice and clean app prototypes that you can go through click by click to different screens. One of the nice things about InVision is that you just have to select the animation and the program does the heavy lifting for you. I have not used After Effects quite yet for creating prototypes but it looks much more complicated because you have to actually go through the timeline and show where each element should be moving and the rate at which it should be moving. InVision is nice because it does all of that for you, but the animations are also pretty basic and you cannot fine tune them like you would be able to in After Effects.
