This effect is something that I have seen used in countless clips and videos around the internet. Essentially what it does is make the text come on to the screen in a way that looks like the type is being drawn. I wanted to learn how to do this because the typography that I used in the logo for my app is a nice script font and I thought it would be interesting to make it look like it was being hand drawn onto the screen. The basic principle of this effect is to create a stroke that covers the text and applies a mask to it. To animate it to make it go from the start of the text through to the end you just do an animation that creates a start and end point for the stroke. The program then animates it automatically in the timeline so that it covers the text gradually.
